The Outcast

In 2002 Sandra Bullock starred in Murder by Numbers. In this movie two high school kids, Justin and Richard, team up to perform the perfect murder. Both these high school students are rich and feel that no one cares about them. Mayweather (Sandra Bullock) is the detective that finds the girl the two boys’ murder. She deals with memories from the past as she is working on this case. Mayweather knows that these two boys killed the girl, but her partner thinks it is the school janitor. Through a series of events Mayweather manages to get her partner to believe her. Mayweather follows the boys to their hide out without her partner. When she arrives Justin is yelling at Richard that they need to give themselves up, but Richard will not listen. Mayweather busts in on them when they are about to kill each other. Richard takes off with the gun and tries to shoot Mayweather, but Justin jumps in front of her. Mayweather take Justin to safety, then takes off after Richard. Mayweather chases Richard onto the deck. The deck collapses and Richard falls off into the water and dies. Back up finally arrives and take Justin into custody, knowing that he was the one that pulled the trigger.
This was another amazing movie of Sandra Bullock’s. Her character was once again a tough cop, with a troubled background. She has to work through the pain and memories from her past, in order to solve the murder. This was an excellent movie of hers, but not one of my favorites.

Never back down

A Time to Kill was filmed in 1996. The movie starts out with two guys brutally beating a raping a young black girl named Tonya. Tonya’s father seeks help from Jake Brigance, a young white lawyer, to convict the men that raped his daughter. Carl Lee, Tonya’s father, goes to the court house and opens fire and kills both the rapist.  Ellan Roark (Sandra Bullock) is a young college student that comes to Jake and asks to help with the case. The case continues, but much harm is brought to Jake and his family. The threats and attacks get to be too much that he has to send his wife and daughter away. When the trail is about to end Roark is kidnapped and taken to the middle of nowhere, where she is beaten and left for dead. She is saved by an informant, Tim. When Carl Lee’s last trail date comes up, he get up on the stand and tells the jury how he felt about his daughter beat and raped. When the jury comes back from making their decision, he is proclaimed not guilty.
This movie was excellent. Roark (Sandra Bullock) is a very strong willed lady. After being beaten she gets right back to doing her job on the case. She lets nothing stop her in this movie!

The Curse

Practical Magic was filmed in 1998. Sandra Bullock starred in it along with Nicole Kidman.  Sally (Sandra Bullock) and Gillian (Nicole Kidman) Owen have always been different from everyone else. When their parents die they go to live with their aunts, who were everything but typical. Their aunts taught them to believe in “practical magic”, but believing in the practical magic comes at a price. Many people of that town believed that the Owen’s were under curse. The curse is that the men that fall in love with them will die an ill-timed death. When they grow up the two sisters must fight the curse in order to be in love.
This movie was very good. Sandra’s character is a shy gal that has to fight off the curse in order to fall in love with a guy. She works hard to overcome the curse, but she has her setbacks. Determined to cure the curse once and for all she will stop at nothing to be able to be in love.

No Past

In 1995 Sandra Bullock starred in the movie The Net. Bennett (Sandra Bullock) is a Venice, California systems analyst who telecommutes with Cathedral Software in San Francisco. She does everything over the phone or computer, so she is never in contact with the outside world. One day her coworker sends her a floppy disk. Bennett and Dale, her coworker, decide to meet up, Dale dies in a plane crash while going to meet with Bennett. Bennett goes to Mexico to meet up with Delvin. Bennett starts to investigate to floppy disks and winds up getting into trouble. Bennett is now wanted for murder.
Overall this was an excellent movie. Bennett has to overcome obstacles she is faced with, when all her records are erased. Being wanted for murder she must prove herself innocent without the help of Cathedral Software. Will she be able to free her name of murder?

Against All Odds

In 2009 Sandra Bullock starred in The Blind Side. In this movie Leigh (Sandra Bullock) takes in an African American; Michael Oher.  Michael has been living with a friend, and his friend has decided to get Michael into a Christian school. The school board has a difficult time letting Michael in; they finally let him in. One night after a basketball game, Michael is walking in the pouring rain, when Leigh and her family pull over and pick him up. Michael ends up spending the night in their house. Leigh finds out that Michael has no family, and invites him into her home and family. Michael struggles through school, but with the help of his new family he is able to bring up his grades. Michael joins the football team, and becomes a star player. It is finally time to choose a college, and many colleges want Michael on their team. With the help of his new little brother Michael and S.J go through the colleges to choose one. After college football, Michael goes on to play professional football.
Sandra Bullock is a very inspiring character in this movie. She takes a young man into home, without even knowing anything about him. With his horrible past, Michael learns to love his new family, and open up to each of them. This movie shows that even with horrible past, you can still find a loving family that will love you for who you are. This was an excellent movie, probably one of the few I have cried over.

Never Give Up Hope

In 1998 Sandra Bullock starred in the movie Hope Floats. In this movie Birdee (Sandra Bullock) finds out that her husband is having an affair with her best friend, Connie. When she finds out about the affair, leaves her husband, and moves back to her old town. When she moves back to town, everyone knows what had happened to her. The town’s people just rub the affair in her face. The one person that is there for her is an old time friend Justin. Justin tries to help her through this difficult time, but he is still in love with her from high school. With the help from Justin, Birdee is able to overcome her difficult time and get back on track with her life.
When it felt like her life was falling apart, Birdee returns home to get over everything that is happening. She has to overcome the affair her husband is having, but also the entire town; that won’t stay out of her business. I would definitely recommend this movie. This movie shows how even if you fill you are hitting rock bottom, there is always hope!

Where are they?

Miss Congeniality 2 was filmed in 2005 starring Sandra Bullock as Gracie Hart. After Gracie saves Miss USA, in the first movie, she now becomes the face of the FBI. She appears on televisions, magazines, and gets interviews to tell about saving Miss. USA. All this turns around when Miss United States (Heather Burns), and Stan Fields (William Shatner) are kidnapped while visiting Las Vegas. When Gracie finds out about the kidnapping she puts her glam and fame behind her to save her friends. She finally ends up finding her friends in the bottom of a ship, which is being used in a Las Vegas show.
Sandra’s character in this movie is a hard core cop. She gets back into her old habit of fighting crime and saving lives. She doesn’t like when people messes with her friends, and will do anything too save them.

Miss United States of America

In 2000 Sandra Bullock starred in Miss Congeniality. A FBI agent goes undercover as a candidate to win Miss United States. When a bomb letter is received the FBI decodes the message and finds out that it is a bomb threat to the next Miss United States. Gracie (bullock) did not keep up with vanity, so in order to fit in with the rest she had to dress, speak, and act like the rest of the pageant contestants. Along the way she becomes friends with another contestant where they both learn new things from each other. When Gracie figures out who the bomb threat is, the next thing is to find out where Kathy Morningside, the lady that planned the bomb, planted the bomb. Gracie figures out that the bomb is in the crown the new Miss USA will be wearing. The contestant that she became friends with during pageant ends up winning Miss USA. In order to safe her friend she tackles her when the crown is placed on her head. Her friend has no idea why Gracie did this until Gracie through the crown and it exploded in a million pieces.

Sandra’s character in this movie is a strong headed woman. She thinks that what she does is right and there is no other way. When she befriends a contestant she learns that she is not the only human with a tough life. Through this pageant she is able to loosen up and start enjoying life.

Deported or Not?

In 2009 Sandra Bullock starred in The Proposal. In this movie a book editor (Sandra Bullock) is an immigrant to the USA. She finds out that her passport is being denied. In a panic she tells everyone that she and her assistant are engaged. Her assistant does not like her, but agrees to marry her, as long as she gives him a book editor position. Her assistant is off to Alaska for his grandmother’s birthday, so she comes along to make everyone believe that they are truly in love. In Alaska, these two actually start to fall in love with one another. On the day of their wedding, Sandra Bullock decides that she doesn’t want to get her assistant in trouble so she leaves him at the altar. In the end, they do get together and live happily ever after.
Sandra’s character in this movie is a strong and determined woman. She wants to be the best at everything, and not let anything get in the way. Within time she lets her guard down around her assistant, so she is becoming more lovable to him. In the end her character has a better atmosphere around her, so more people want to be around her. This movie is excellent and makes me laugh every time.

Unexplainable Events

In 2007 Sandra Bullock starred in Premonition. This movie is very confusing and in order to understand it, you need to watch it. Linda (Sandra Bullock) is a mother of two daughters and has a husband. One day Linda wakes up and comes to find out her husband is in a fatal car crash. When she wakes the next day he is sleeping right next to her. Linda wonders why her husband is a live one day and then dead the next. In the movie she skips one day, but when she wakes up she is reliving the day she skipped. Finally she realizes that she is basically reliving the whole week before her husband’s death.

Her character in this movie is a loving mother, who no one will believe. She has to deal with everyone thinking she is crazy, and try to solve her husband’s death on her own. This was a suspenseful movie, always wondering what would happen next.

Baggage from our past

In 2002 Sandra Bullock starred in The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhod. We all have baggage in our past that has made us the way we are today. In this movie Sandra Bullock is a middle aged woman who is on the road of getting married. Sandra’s mother and she are feuding back and forth. Finally the mother’s friend come and take Sid (Sandra Bullock) back to her home town to explain to her why her mother acts the way she does. The movie has lots of flashbacks of Sid when she was a little girl and seeing her mother being a drunk that hates her life, but she also remembers the good times they had together. Her mother does not excuse her bad behavior from the past. Sid and her mother eventually forgive each other at the end of the movie.
This movie is very heart tugging and shows how events in your past can halt you from moving on into your future. You need to learn to deal with the issues you face, and not just shove them into the back of your mind. Sandra’s character in this movie was a strong, silent willed lady who had no intentions of forgiving her mother for the mistakes she had committed. She eventually learns her mother’s past and is better able to comprehend why her mother acted the way she did.

Life in the fast lane

Is love, drugs, and alcohol a good combination? In 1999 Sandra Bullock starred in 28 Days. In the movie she surrounds her life with friends that drink and do drugs. After ruining her sister’s wedding; she checks into rehab for 28 days. Here she encounters multiple people with similar handicaps as hers. She has trouble in the beginning and gets caught for doing drugs. She is allowed to stay, where she starts to realize that she needs to turn her life around. She completes her course and is released back into the real world. Once she is out she goes back to hanging out with her old friends, and finally realizes that the people she surrounds herself with influence her actions greatly. With this knowledge she gained from rehab she strikes up the courage to leave her old friends behind and start her new life.
Sandra Bullock’s character in this movie is not a character I suspect her to play. She usually plays the role of an upbeat person, but in this film she is depressed and hurting from past experiences. With all this anger stored up, she tries to fill these voids with drugs and alcohol. In this film it shows that the people you surround yourself with do have an effect on what you will do. This film was a wonderful video that shows how much drugs and alcohol don’t only affect you, but everyone around you as well.

Love seperated by time

In the year 2006 Sandra Bullock starred in the Lake House. This movie shows that true love will prevail even if your love is in a separated by time. Sandra is moving out of a lake house that she has lived in for some time now. She leaves a letter in the mailbox telling the new owner that if he/she finds any of her belongings please send it to her new address. Keanu Reeves is living in that same house only two years earlier though. They realize that they are in different times, but they still write to each other because they know they are each other’s true love. After writing letters after letters, they finally try to meet each other; it doesn’t work out. Finally when they are not trying to meet up with each other, they run into each other.
The Lake House showed no matter where you true love is you will come together. I believed this was a good movie of hers, but this type of story line has been used throughout so it’s not that unique. I still loved how she portrayed her character so well in this movie. Sandra Bullock character was a lonely doctor and she never seemed to be satisfied with the one she was with. When she finally stopped worrying about who she was with; her true love came along. The Lake House was not one of my favorite movies of hers, but if you love to watch love stories this would be a great movie to watch.
